“All we need is just a little patience”
Be sure to check Betway to check out the latest Jets game day odds and bet on the NHL! It has been a stressful week as a Winnipeg Jets fan. We have watched the Dallas Stars and the Colorado Avalanche get better and it was starting to look like Kevin Cheveldayoff and the Jets were standing pat on the team they had assembled. This morning we got word from Darren Dreger that the Jets have made a trade with the New Jersey Devils involving Tyler Toffoli.
The trade is officially Tyler Toffoli in exchange for a 2025 2nd round draft pick and a 2024 3rd round draft pick.
Toffoli, aged 31, made his NHL debut back in March of 2013 with the LA Kings, where he quickly made a name for himself. Drafted in the second round (47th overall) in 2010, Toffoli’s third full season saw him leading the Kings in goals (31).  In his rookie year in the AHL with the Manchester Monarchs earned him the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award for Outstanding Rookie of the Year in 2012-2013.
Toffoli also brings a Stanley cup win with him back in 2014 when the Kings won the cup. He would help secure the victory by assisting on Alec Martinez’s over time winning goal.
Since the 2019-2020 season, Toffoli has suited up for four different teams, including three Canadian teams: the Vancouver Canucks, the Montreal Canadiens, and the Calgary Flames. This will not be the first time that Toffoli has played with Sean Monahan has they were line mates in Calgary.

JETS NATION PRESENTED BY BETWAY

In the current season, Toffoli has already played 61 games, tallying 26 goals and 44 points, leading the Devils in goal scoring. His arrival in Winnipeg’s top six forwards is anticipated, likely slotting in alongside Nikolaj Ehlers and Monahan. Standing at six feet tall and weighing 203 lbs, Toffoli brings a scoring swager to the Jets’ second line, addressing a large need for the team.
With an unrestricted free agency looming this summer, Toffoli carries a cap hit of $4.25 million for the current season.
The question now lingers: Can Toffoli be the missing piece for the Jets in their quest for dominance in the top heavy Central Division and can he take the Jets into a deep playoff run? With his proven track record and the team’s strategic acquisition it sure seems like the Jets have brought in one of the right pieces.
