What a start to the season on Wednesday night. A 6-0 victory over last years Western conference champs feels oh so good to start the season. The Jets are going to need another great performance tonight for the home opener  against the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Jets love their season openers, they have won their last 6 home openers and have a record of 9-5 to start the season at Canada Life Centre.
Scott Arniel would talk about how the Blackhawks were a tough opponent last season and they have insulated their young star Connor Bedard with veteran talent over the summer. “If you make mistakes they (the veterans) will make you pay. WE have to be at our best pay attention to our details and our structure.”
When asked about the Cole Perfetti, Vlad Namestikov and Nikolaj Ehlers line not scoring against the Oilers, Arniel would praise them for being great defensively and not allowing Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl to get much time in their offensive zone. I think they will be just
The Jets are currently one of 5 teams in the central without a loss yet this season, the Blackhawks have lost their only game so far to the new Utah Hockey Club, 5-2 was the final.
The Jets would put their third goaltender Kaappo Kahkonen on waivers he was picked up off waivers by the Colorado Avalanche. Logan Stanley and Jaret Anderson-Donal is on injured reserve while Ville Heinola is still out with his ankle injury. If you were hoping to see former Jets goaltender Laurent Brossoit he will not be playing tonight he is out with a knee injury.
The Jets struggled against Blackhawks last season only going 2-1 against one of the worst teams in the NHL and all three games had four or less goals. Since 2020 the Jets are 12-4-0 against Chicago.
Nikolaj Ehlers likes to put up points against the Blackhawks with 10 goals and 24 points in 30 games against them. Bedard has struggled against Connor Hellebuyck only scoring two goals against the Vezina winner.
Arvid Soderblom should get the start tonight he has a 7-34-4 career record with a 3.84 goals against average and a .883 save percentage.
