The Winnipeg Jets’ are looking to impress their moms, and are looking for the fourth straight game of picking up at least a point. As well the Jets fourth straight win against the San Jose Sharks.
The Sharks were the better team for the first half of the period but the Jets would hold strong until 12:18 into the period when Kyle Connor would bury a beautiful back handed goal.
If you noticed in that clip the Jets only had 4 shot attempts before their first goal.  The Jets were better in the final eight minutes of the first. There was a moment of fear when Nikita Chibrikov would block a shot and go down to the Jets locker room before the end of the first period. Jets were outshot 9-10 in the first 20 minutes.
In the second the Sharks continued to pressure the Jets. Former Jet Tyler Toffoli would open the scoring in the second period less than two minutes into the period.
Toffoli would score his 13th of the season after the Jets would fail to clear the puck of their defensive zone.
The Jets would strike back on the power play with the Ontario connection between Cole Perfetti, Gabriel Vilardi and Mark Scheifele. Lots of movement on the power play lead to the Jets second lead.
Macklin Celebrini would get the game tied back up on the power play. This is the sneakiest goal I’ve seen in a long while. He used Dylan DeMelo a screen to put the soft wrist shot past Connor Hellebuyck. The Sharks double the Jets up in the second period in the shots 14-7 both teams would give up a power play goal in the second.
The Sharks would take the lead less than 5 minutes into the third. Kyle Connor had a bit of defensive brain fart and let Fabian Zetterlund put a shot past Hellebuyck’s glove.
The Jets would wake up after the Sharks went up 3-2 and would start to push. Alexander Wennberg would take a penalty and Kyle Connor would find the back of the net for the second time in the game.  (not sure why I cant post the highlights here but I am blame Elon Musk and stupid crappy app on this)
The Jets would push back and would ultimately put 17 shots on Alexandar Georgiev in the third. He would give up the final goal of the game to Adam Lowry who had a tip off of a shot from Dylan DeMelo.
Not the best first game in front of mom for the Winnipeg Jets but a win is a win over one of the worst teams in the NHL. Hopefully the same attitude of the third period can go into the game Wednesday night against the Anaheim Ducks.
The win tonight puts the Jets back on top of the NHL.
First star- Kyle Connor
