Sunday afternoon started a little emotional with the Jets officially having Bryan Little retire as a Jet he got to do a lap across the ice and won his face off against Sidney Crosby prior to the game.
The Jets would change up their line-up for the first time this season. Logan Stanley would draw in for Haydn Fleury and David Gustafsson would come in for Rasmus Kupari on the fourth line. We would see Eric Comrie play for the first time this season.
The first period looked solid from the Jets they just couldn’t beat Pittsburgh’s goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic in the opening 20. The Jets would out shoot the Pittsburgh Penguins 11-9 both teams would head to the box once.
Former Jet Kevin Hayes would opening the scoring on the power play with Collin Miller sitting in the box. Lars Eller would put the Penguins up 2-0 less than six minutes in.
Scott Arniel would say ” that was a pretty sloppy second for us its the first time we’ve had a full period like that. We have a time like that maybe 5 to 10 minutes but in the second we gave up pucks, overhandling and we lost some puck battles”. Anriel would have a talk with his team during a TV timeout it seemed to work because the Jets would score three unanswered goals to finish the second period.
