Ugly night on the out-of-town scoreboard. The only game of slight consequence to the Jets was the Calgary Flames 7-4 loss which made their playoff hopes a bit dimmer, but otherwise the result of every other game that the Jets had stakes in ranged from “ugh” to “damnit”

The Nashville Predators won (and punched their playoff ticket, becoming the first NHL team to do so) over the Colorado Avalanche by a 4-2 score. The slight blessing in that is that the Avs didn’t gain any points or ground.

The Minnesota Wild however did gain ground on the Jets with a 4-2 win in Vegas.

Maybe the Golden Knights are still trying to figure out ways to screw over the Jets and their playoff chances somehow.

The Wild win keeps the Jets magic number to clinch second place in the Central at 16.

The Dallas Stars lost in overtime so they gained a point and have pulled even with the Avalanche, but Colorado holds the first tie-breaker with more regulation time wins (37 to 34)

Joining the Stars and Avs with 84 points was the Anaheim Ducks who beat Detroit 4-2.

Ergo, the Jets magic number to clinch a playoff spot outright is still 12.
