The Winnipeg Jets have recalled former starter Ondrej
Pavelec from the Manitoba Moose. This is in light of recent goaltending
struggles from Connor Hellebuyck and Michael Hutchinson.
To make this move, the Jets placed Ben Chiarot on the
retroactive IR to January 11 with an upper body injury.
In the NHL, Pavelec has a career goals against average of 2.85
and a career save percentage of .907.
So far in the 2016-17 season, Pavelec is 8-7-2 with the
Manitoba Moose with a 2.78 goals against average and .917 save percentage.
Pavelec is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2016-17 season and this could be a career saver, if he wishes to play in the NHL more. However, his past record does not provide enough solid work to say that this is a season saving move for the Jets.
