The Jets played a hard 3rd period and didn’t really do anything in the 1st or 2nd. This has been the name of the game for the past few games for Winnipeg. In a battle that could be a pretty cool Stanley Cup Final (I’ve probably had too much Kool-Aid), the Jets lost 4-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Oh well, off to Detroit we go.
TALKING POINTS
- Jets playing 4 games in 6 nights is a little much. They’ll be playing the Red Wings on Friday and the Leafs again in Toronto on Saturday. If the league wants to play overseas, maybe they need to reduce the number of games played to fit these global games in.
- The PoMo blender was in full effect. The start of the game saw Kyle Connor and Patrik Laine switch spots, but that did not work for the Jets, at all. Credit to Paul Maurice as he responded to this issue and put Nik Ehlers on the top line to replace Patrik Laine.
- The Jets were fun in the 1st, bad in the 2nd and decided to try to play in the 3rd. The team needs to figure out how to play a full game if they want longterm success this season.
- The Jets are going away to Finland next and it would be prime time to bolster the Jets’ defence and call up fellow Fin Sami Niku.
- It would be great to see Nic Petan get in for a game to shake up the lines, especialy with so many games in the next little while.
- This line up feels like it is missing something, Stastny and Enstrom are definitely missed.
