NHL19 Sim Predicts Jets Fall Short Of Stanley Cup

We’re a few short days away from the first puck drop of the new NHL season and that gives everyone plenty of chances to chime in with their predictions on just how the season will play out. This of course includes video game publisher EA who once again used their yearly hockey game to simulate the entire season to predict some major award winners as well as which team takes home the ultimate prize.

Unfortunately, the game didn’t exactly agree with the many experts who feel the Jets will be the ones raising the Cup, in fact the sim has the Jets falling short of the Western Conference Final in a second round loss to the 2nd place in the Central Nashville Predators who seemingly flip the script from what happened in the last playoffs.

Instead, NHL 19 likes the Toronto Maple Leafs to be the first Canadian team in 25 years, defeating the San Jose Sharks in a seven game classic Cup Final.

The season isn’t without some rewards though for Jets fans. As mentioned, it seems to like the Jets to win the Central and take a playoff series from the Los Angeles Kings who cross over into the Central division bracket.

The game also seems to favor Patrik Laine to win the Rocket Richard Trophy as the NHL’s top goal scorer.

If all of this has you feeling a bit concerned, keep in mind it is a video game not exactly known for it’s simulation accuracy. Last year EA’s official simulation had the Tampa Bay Lightning winning the Cup (oops) over the Edmonton Oilers (whLOLoops) and saw the Vegas Golden Knights finishing 14th in the West. NHL 17 thought the Nashville Predators would top the Montreal Canadiens in the Cup final, and NHL 16 figured the Anahiem Ducks would knock off the Montreal Canadiens for Lord Stanley.
