JNGD.S8.G73 Flight Plan: Duck, Duck, Lose.

I have to imagine that maybe the best part of taking on the Los Angeles Kings one night and then the Anaheim Ducks the next is that you’re not actually traveling that far. Residents of Anaheim hate to admit it, but Anaheim is basically a outlet of the city of L.A. proper. Anaheim to Los Angeles is what Selkirk is to Winnipeg. You can say you’re from Anaheim, but we all know you’re better off saying you’re from Los Angeles.
It’s why the Angels just say they are from Los Angeles now. It’s why the Rams – despite playing in the Anaheim area – called themselves the LA Rams before their move to St. Louis and when they returned, looked at Anaheim and went “nah, we’re good.” It’s why the Clippers would rather be a second fiddle club to the Lakers in the same arena than move out and be the Anaheim Clippers.
The bottom line of this rant? Anaheim is bad and this year so is their hockey club – except for John Gibson, he’s been outstanding and should really get some Hart trophy consideration (I’m being serious)

Ducks Player To Watch

#33 Jakob Silfverberg – Right Wing

It’s maybe an good indication of just how poorly the Ducks season has gone that Silfverberg – who in his own right is a versatile NHL’er who plays well at both sides of the rink and excel in any mid-six forward group – leads the team in goals with just 22. It’s one away from a career high for the 28 year old in his seventh year in the NHL. He scored late in the third against the Panthers on Sunday to give the Ducks a victory and could easily sneak up on the Jets as well if they don’t keep him in check.

Last Ducks Game

The Ducks scored very early in the game and then very late in it and ended up fending off a pesky Panthers club with a 4-3 victory.

Jets Player To Watch

#85 Mathieu Perreault – Forward

Matty P is starting to heat up!
With three goals in his last five games, the return to scoring is a welcome sight for the Jets and their fans as Perreault had gone the previous 14 games with just a single assist to his name. If they Jets are going to have any success in the playoffs, they’ll need secondary scoring and Perreault will be looked upon heavily to provide it in the bottom six forward group.

Last Jets Game

It was a bit shaky to start, but the Jets ramped up their defensive game as the night went on against Los Angeles and locked down a 3-2 victory to kick off a three game road trip.
