JN Flight Plan: Winnipeg Jets at Boston Bruins
Game four of the Winnipeg Jets 2020 Revenge Tour takes them to Boston where they don’t really have anything to get revenge for… Yet.
This will no doubt be the toughest test the Jets get tonight as it’s the third game in the last four nights, the second half of a back to back on the road where the Bruins are home and rested while the Jets are 24 hours removed from earning a shootout victory in Toronto. The Bruins are also the class of the Atlantic division, though they’ve struggled just a little bit the last few games.

Last Bruins Game
The bruins gave new Predators coach John Hynes a very rude welcome back to coaching as both teams played a crazy, undisciplined game that the Bruins got the better of with a breakout third period in a 6-2 win over Nashville.

Fun Bruins Facts…
- The Bruins are 5-1-5 in their last 11 games with their 9-game point streak snapped at 4-0-5 with a 4-1 loss to Edmonton on Janurary 4th, just their 2nd regulation loss on home ice this season.
- They are 4-2-2 vs. Central Division opponents & are 8-3-3 vs. Western Conference foes.
- Boston has had 11 straight games scoring a power play goal entering tonight. The Bruins have gone 13 for 42 (31.0%) on the power play since their last game blanked, December 12 at Tampa Bay (0 for 2)
What They’re Saying…
In a way, Tuesday’s win was a little frustrating, as it showed what the Bruins are capable of being if they got offensive contributions from the Coyles, Heinens, and Bjorks of the lineup, not to mention the fourth line. Why aren’t they getting it consistently?

Last Jets Game
The Jets scored first and even though the Leafs clawed back three separate times including a last second @Auston Matthews goal late in the third to tie it, the Jets wouldn’t be denied a victory on the 2020 Revenge Tour as they outlasted the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in a shootout.

Fun Jets Facts…
- Winnipeg’s 30 points earned in road games is tied for third in the NHL. They are 14-7-2 on the road this season.
- The pair of shorthanded goals the Jets have gotten over the last two games matches the two shorthanded goals Winnipeg had in the first 42 games of the season. Oddly enough, the Jets also had shorthanded goals in consecutive games last season on the exact same dates as this season – Jan. 6 vs. Dallas and Jan. 8 vs. Colorado.
- Three of the past four games between the Jets and Bruins have been decided in a shootout, with the Jets winning two of the three games. The past two meetings between the two teams in Boston have been decided via the shootout.
- Keeping it 100: @Andrew Copp one point to reach 100 for his NHL career. @Patrik Laine needs one more helper for 100 assists in his NHL career.
What We’re Saying…
There’s been a bit of a shakeup with the lines recently as the fourth line now consists of Shore, Appleton, and Harkins after Bourque was taken out of the lineup against Toronto. Harkins has been excellent on the forecheck since coming into the lineup and he brings some much needed speed to the bottom six. Appleton was given some penalty kill time against the Leafs last night and he managed to score a shorthanded goal which gives Winnipeg two of them in the last two games.
