After a long game last night that saw the Jets need a shootout to down the Maple Leafs, they are finally at the end of their road trip. They are taking on the Bruins tonight which will wrap up their four game road trip. They get both Friday and Saturday off before they get a bit of an easier week with three home games over a stretch of six days. They face Nashville, Vancouver and Tampa Bay in the coming days.

As for tonight, here’s what you need to watch for.

It’s been a long time since Winnipeg has won three in a row. In fact, they haven’t done so since the end of November when they beat Columbus, San Jose, and Anaheim. Even though it’s been a while, they have a chance to win three in a row once again as they recently beat Montreal and Toronto on the current road trip. A win this evening would cap off a really successful trip and give the Jets plenty of confidence after having a rough couple of weeks around Christmas time.

There’s been a bit of a shakeup with the lines recently as the fourth line now consists of Shore, Appleton, and Harkins after Bourque was taken out of the lineup against Toronto. Harkins has been excellent on the forecheck since coming into the lineup and he brings some much needed speed to the bottom six. Appleton was given some penalty kill time against the Leafs last night and he managed to score a shorthanded goal which gives Winnipeg two of them in the last two games.

The top line remained intact, but the middle six got switched around against Toronto as Copp and Roslovic switched spots. It happened a number of times during the game as Wheeler, Ehlers, and Copp enjoyed quite a bit of success throughout the evening. It will be interesting to see how those lines shape up over the next few games to see if the switch is permanent or not.

With a goal last night, Mark Scheifele has tied Kyle Connor for the team lead in goals with 21. Not to be out-done, Ehlers also lit the lamp to score his 18th of the season to move within three of the team lead. Also, don’t forget Laine who’s got 15 on the year and could heat up at any time. It’s going to be fun watching these players battle it out for the team lead in goals as almost every night at least one of them is scoring. It looks like the Jets will have all four of these players with more than 30 goals on the year. Wheeler might reach that plateau as well as he’s scored 14 already on the year.

The Winnipeg Jets and Boston Bruins played each other twice last year. Winnipeg came away with both victories and the scores in both games were identical with Winnipeg winning 4-3. The first game was on January 29 and Kyle Connor finished with a pair of goals while Scheifele had a pair of assists.

The second game was on March 14 and it featured Laine picking up two assists while Mark Scheifele scored a goal and had two assists.

For those of you who are good at math, that’s five points for Scheifele in the two games against Boston last year. That’s a huge change of pace for Scheifele as before last year, he only had one goal and three assists in 10 games against the Bruins.

Winnipeg is hoping that recent history is recreated and they come away with a victory behind a big performance from #55.

After seeing Scheifele’s stat line from last year and his recent strong play, Scheifele will come away with a multi-point night. The Jets will need the entire lineup after the back to back situation but I think they will get the job done on the road. Jets keep up the trend and win 4-3.
