JGD Preseason Game 5: Jets Check Out Oilers New Home

Your Winnipeg Jets head to Alberta’s capital city to take on the Edmonton Oilers and get an early look at their swanky new Rogers Place home as well as Connor McDavid and the swanky new Con the left side of his jersey.
Also tune in for the battle of the #2 and #3 … ERRR #4 picks (seriously, Blue Jackets, what was that about?!) in this past draft as Laine will line up against Jesse Puljujarvi.

Winnipeg

Record 4-1-0
Lines:
Laine – Little – Armia
Connor – Perreault – Burmistrov
Tanev – Lowry – Thorburn
DeLeo – Copp – Peluso
Morrisey – Byfuglien
Chiarot – Myers
Stuart – Postma
Hellebuyck
Hutchinson
Hellebuyck gets another look in net as the Jets tangled mess of goalies is still yet to be figured out. Laine with Little is an interesting duo as it’s very likely they will be the Jets second line to start the season so building chemistry between those two now is key. The Perreault like could easily be a Jets third line and the bottom six you’ll see tonight are possibly all fighting for the final three spots come opening night.

Edmonton

Record 4-2-0
Lines:
Lucic – McDavid – Eberle
Pouliot – Draisaitl – Puljujarvi
Maroon – Caggiula – Yakupov
Pitlick – Letestu – Kassian

Klefbom – Larsson
Sekera – Benning
Reinhart – Gryba

Gustavsson
The Oilers will be trotting out a lineup that is starting to look a lot like what we’ll see from them when they officially open the season. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was set to be in the game tonight but is fighting illness so we’ve been told. Keep an eye on the third line as Caggiula has impressed so far and trade rumors continue to swirl around Yakupov.

Predictions:

Game Prediction: The Oilers look to keep impressing fans in their new digs and have a lineup very close to what the regular NHL lineup will be.. The Jets meanwhile have at best half a crew… Expect an Oilers 4-2 win.
Obvious Prediction: Helle will look great but not be helped at all by the defense.
Not So Obvious Prediction: Yakupov gets traded midway through the game and throws his Oilers jersey on the ice.
