Jets Prospect Update – March 15th

A rough week for the Moose, Kyle Connor cleans up the Big 10 end of season awards, and a look at how NCAA tournament play has gone to this point. This and more in this weeks Jets Prospects Update.

It was a rough week for the Manitoba Moose, who’s poor depth has been stretched to the limit by injuries among their own players as well as those to the Jets that have required call-ups. Things began with the team losing twice to an Iowa Wild team who, despite being a similar basement dweller, seem to have the Moose’s number this season. Then they followed that up by losing twice more to the Grand Rapids Griffins by a combined score of 12-3.

While it’s been their one saving grace more often than not this season, goaltending was definitely a bit of an issue this week. Connor Hellebuyck started two games allowing 11 goals on 53 shots while Eric Comrie also saw two starts and allowed 6 on 59.

Leading the way in this low scoring week for the Moose was Chase De Leo with one goal and one assist. Also putting up some points were, Nic Petan(1G), Axel Blomqvist(1G), Austen Brassard(1A), Ryan Olsen(1A), and Brendan Kichton(1A).

Brendan Lemieux had one assist in two games played.

Jansen Harkins had one goal and one assist in three games played.

Matteo Gennaro had one goal and two assists in four games played.

Michael Spacek had one assist and Nelson Nogier was held pointless in three games each for the Rebels.

The Big 10 regular season came to an end this past weekend and Connor went out with a bang scoring four goals in his last two non-playoff games of the season. Connor cleaned up in individual awards within the division and is likely a front-runner for the Hobey Baker as the nations top college player.

Roslovic’s season is over as Miami was eliminated this week with two losses to Minnesota-Duluth. Though he definitely cooled off in the second half Roslovic’s season should be looked at as a success, he tied for his team lead in scoring and was named to the conference all-rookie team.

C.J. Franklin had three assists in three games as Minnesota State beat Lake Superior State two games to one and will continue on in the WCHA tournament.

Tucker Poolman had one assist in North Dakota’s two game sweep of Colorado College that will see them move on in the NCHC tournament.

Mason Appleton had two assists in two games to wrap up Michigan State’s regular season play.

Erik Foley had one goal in two games for Providence as they got by Merrimack in the first round of the Hockey East tournament.

Jack Glover was held pointless in two games for Minnesota.

Tanner Lane and Matt Ustaksi’s seasons are both done as both Wisconsin and Omaha have been eliminated from tournament play.

Jamie Phillips stopped 37 of 41 shots in two wins for Michigan Tech to see them move on in the WCHA tournament.

Playoffs continue for Ivan Telegin as CSKA find themselves down 3-1 in their series against Torpedo. He currently has one goal and one assist in seven playoff games.
