Report: Jets among teams showing interest in Kyle Okposo

New York Islanders beat writer Arthur Staple tweeted earlier today that the Jets are one of the teams that have reached out to Kyle Okposo’s camp here at the start of the UFA interview period.
While there have been other reports recently of the Jets having a desire to add a top-9 forward, Okposo looks to be one of the top available UFAs this off-season and is likely in line to receive a significant contract.
The Jets are sitting with plenty of cap space at the moment, but with key RFAs left to sign, and thinking about all the up and comers in the organisation right now, it would seem a little short sighted to given out a big deal to a winger nearing the 30 year mark. Of course just because they’ve reached out doesn’t mean that they’re seriously persuing him, this could just be a case of Cheveldayoff doing some due diligence on a premier UFA.
