Jets Nation Recap: Jets fall to Rangers in frustrating fashion

Frustration is warranted from Jets fans.
With a abundance of quality pieces, the Jets just can’t seem to get things to gel and their playoff hopes may be in jeopardy if they continue playing at this pace. You can’t just blame tonight’s 2-1 loss to the Rangers on the high sticking call at the end of the game.
There are many more things to decipher.
Game Notes
  • Drew Stafford shouldn’t be in a top six role. His game has been on a decline for quite some time and the fact he’s continuously in an increased role is really puzzling.
  • That’s not the only thing puzzling about some roster decisions. Kyle Connor couldn’t make it in to this game, for what reason? The Rangers are one of the fastest teams in the NHL and any more foot speed the Jets could have added should have been in the lineup, without a doubt. Furthermore, what about the last handful of games he was scratched for? It doesn’t make sense to me how he isn’t playing in the NHL or AHL right now.
  • The Jets may have to make some tough decisions as the team’s injuries heal, but Andrew Copp shouldn’t go anywhere. He’s got some offensive upside in a bottom six and most of all, he competes his tail off.
  • If I could give Nikolaj Ehlers a pointer- It would be to eliminate his wind up snap shot that he uses on breakaways.
  • Special Teams has been an issue for the Jets ever since they relocated from Atlanta. It hasn’t been cleaned up entirely and that’s even with having the best shot in the entire league, in Patrik Laine. That comes on the coaches and that needs to be fixed immediately.
  • Say whatever you want about how the game ended, but no matter what, the Jets need to stop taking offensive zone penalties, veteran players shouldn’t be setting an example by that.
  • What does twitter think?
