Game day 64 Winnipeg Jets vs. Washington Capitals

We should expected a game that feels like playoff hockey tonight as both teams have something to prove. The Jets are looking to forget all about that disaster of a 5-0 game against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night. The Washington Capitals are on the outside of the playoffs looking in. As well we are still watching Alex Ovechkin to see if he can beat the Gretzky goal record. Personally I think he does it.

The Jets in their last ten games are 7-3-0. With two of those losses coming at the hands of two of the best teams in the West the Canucks and the Dallas Stars. The Capitals are 7-2-1 in their last ten and are looking for their third straight win tonight against the Jets.

As mentioned Toffoli is playing tonight on the second line with his previous line mates in Sean Monahan and Alex Iaffalo.Iaffalo played with Toffoli in LA and Monahan played with the right winger in Calgary and in their time with Ottawa 67’s. Gabriel Vilardi is out for his sixth straight game. Colin Miller will play on Dylan Samberg’s right side, Nate Schmidt will be up in the press box tonight.

Nikolaj Ehlers will see his power play time reduced as Toffoli will slot into the top power play unit. On a positive note Ehlers will play on the top line right wing with Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele.

Darcy Kuemper will get the start tonight for the capitals. The 2022 Stanley cup winner has a record of 6-2-0 and has been pulled twice against the Jets. Overall he has a 3.00 goals against and a .917 save percentage. Connor Hellebuyck is 4-4-2 against Washington with a 2.38 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
