An absolutely scary scene midway in the third period of the @Winnipeg Jets contest against the @New Jersey Devils as forward @Bryan Little was injured after taking a @Nikolaj Ehlers shot to the right side of his head.
The sound of the puck deflecting off Little was bad enough, but the replays are just as tough to watch.
The injury had players on both teams concerned as you can see New Jersey players calling for help right away and a shaken Ehlers needing some reassuring once he got back on to the bench.
While Ehlers was no doubt looking to get the puck off the ice and towards the upper part of the Devils net, the puck did appear to be slightly redirected to an even higher angle by a stick at some point after the shot was taken.
Even more concerning is the fact that Little had just recently returned from a concussion that had kept him out of the Winnipeg Jets lineup for the first seven games of the season. There was blood on the ice due to a cut he got around the ear area, but the positive sign was that Little did appear to be conscious through the entire situation and did skate off on his own legs, with some help of course.
Since Little’s return from the concussion he suffered in the last game of the regular season, he’s picked up two goals and three assists in seven games played. He had a four game point streak up until the Jets game in Vegas where he was held off the scoresheet.
UPDATE: Bryan as expected was taken to hospital last night and received multiple stitches to close the wound around his ear. No word on any possible damage to the ear or if there is any signs of a concussion yet, but we will likely find that out in the next day or so.
