The Run Down

The Winnipeg Jets can’t quite get out of that rut they’ve been in. The would come so close to a victory but with 11 seconds left Tomas Hertl would tie the game up at two with Logan Couture scoring the overtime winner. A loser point picked up isn’t the worst scenario but losing to a bottom three team in the NHL sucks. Nino Niederreiter would score his first as a Jet and Nate Schmidt would score his sixth of the season. What killed the Jets in that last game? These go hand in hand but the Jets would go 0 for 6 on the power play and only scored two 5-on-5 goals. It also didn’t help the Manitoba-born goaltender James Reimer had a .947 save percentage.
It’s expected that Jets starter Connor Hellebuyck is going to start this game. The only line-up change that is noted is Logan Stanley getting into the game over Dylan Samberg. I expect we will see these two play every other game until the end of the season.
The Minnesota Wild are coming off of a 1-0 shootout loss. Is there anything more heart breaking as a fan of hockey to see? Marc-Andre Fleury is the expected starter for the Wild tonight. He has a record of 10-6-0 against the Jets life time according to Statmuse.com. The Wild have a record of 2-3 over their last five visits to Canada Life Centre. The Wild haven’t lost a game in regulation since Feb.15 in a 2-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
Both teams are looking for points and a win as these two teams could see each other in the first round of the playoffs. A win tonight will get the Jets back into third in the division and would put the Jets just two points back of the Wild for second spot in the Central. The Jets have 75 points in 64 games the Wild have 79 points in 64 games.

Primary Bet – Jets win and under 5.5 goals – (+250)

A $1 bet would pay out $3.50. The Jets are the favorites going into this game(-138) The way these two goalies can play I think we might see a lack of scoring. The Wild are playing their second game in as many days and needed to make the flight in from Minneapolis. If you want to go in on the Jets win and the goals go over 5.5 goals you can still find a bet on that.(+220).

Secondary Bet – Mark Scheifele anytime goal– (+140)

A $1bet would pay out 2.40. Mark Scheifele has found a partner in Niederreiter. Both men are hungry for the net at this point it feels like one of those two is going to score every night for the Jets. Scheifele has 36 goals this season and could find a new gear to hit the 40-goal plateau for the first time in his career.

Tertiary Bet – Josh Morrissey over 2.5 shots – (+105)

Three times in the last five games Jets top defenceman Josh Morrissey has managed three or more shots on the net. In two of those games, he has taken six shots on the net.  It’s not a slam dunk but the recency basis is screaming take this one.
