After the morning skate in preparation for tonight’s game against the Arizona Coyotes, a few notes to pass your way…
  • @Mark Letestu – Considered “out” with an undisclosed injury but it’s not considered a concussion. It’s worth noting that during Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Letestu was kept off the ice for the latter half of the second period and didn’t get back on to the ice until the back half of the third period where he took four shifts.

  • @David Gustafsson – With Letestu out, Gustafsson will draw in for his first career NHL game. A little well overdue for the 19 year old forward who did have an outstanding camp but hasn’t cracked the regular season lineup yet.

  • @Bryan Little – Still remains out, but he’s getting closer to a return to the lineup. He once again skated in a yellow non-contact jersey this morning, but with the Jets having a full practice tomorrow there is a chance that if he feels good he could get back a regular jersey and might be a possibility for Thursday’s game against the New York Islanders, but a more likely situation is that he draws in against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday.

  • @Ville Heinola – Will have press box duty for a third game in a row as it seems the Jets don’t intend to keep him around for the season. As was noted by a few different people, Heinola – who has played in five games already – could play every Jets game after tonight’s contest and his ninth game – the last game he could play before having his pro contract kick in thus burning a year off of it – would be the Heritage Classic in Regina. Is it possible Paul Maurice has been sitting him with this in mind?
Line combinations at the morning skate looked like this:
