#EverythingIsHappening
Thursday was certainly a very eventful day for the Winnipeg Jets, so just to get you call caught up, you can read Mike McIntyre’s one tweet which sums it up quite well, but here’s a few more details on what went down…
  • The Jets sent down @Ville Heinola to the Manitoba Moose. This puts to rest some of the speculation on what the Jets will do with the 18 year old defenseman who had one NHL game left before his Entry Level Contract kicked in for it’s first year. This is generally a positive move as it will give Heinola top pairing minutes on North American ice and help his development that way. The door isn’t completely closed on him returning to the NHL this season as he still has that one game left that he can play, but it’s highly unlikely. If Ville requests and the Jets agree to it, Heinola could be loaned back to a club in Finland as well, although one would have to think Jets management wants to keep a close eye on Ville and have him work on his game here. Also, don’t rule out World Junior action just yet for Ville, but again recent Jets history with young prospects would suggest that they would rather keep him in the AHL.

  • @Patrik Laine did skate during yesterday’s practice but left practice early and he won’t be playing tonight against the @San Jose Sharks.

  • Also leaving practice early on Thursday was @Bryan Little. Paul Maurice stated that Little as unable to “loosen up” as he started practice, but mentioned that the early departure wasn’t related to the concussion that caused him to miss the start of the regular season. Little’s status for the game against San Jose tonight is ‘questionable’.

  • Forward @CJ Suess has been called up by the Jets from the Moose and could possibly be in the lineup against the Sharks tonight which would be his NHL debut. In eight games this season with the Moose he’s picked up a goal and four penalty minutes. Last season was injury shortened, but he still managed to score eight goals and 12 points in 26 games played in the AHL.

  • @Nathan Beaulieu is in a regular practice jersey yesterday, so he appears to be closer to getting back in the lineup for the Jets, but don’t expect him tonight. He could still be in the lineup tomorrow night against the @Vegas Golden Knights

  • @Mark Letestu – who has missed the last three games due to a previously undisclosed ailment – was revealed to be dealing with Myocarditis which is a heart condition that can affect the rhythm of the heart and cause either rapid or irregular heart beats. He’s going to be shut down for the next six months which effectively ends his 2019-20 season.

  • Keeping up with the AHL Moose: Over the last two days they’ve added forwards Brent Pedersen and Nathan Todd on Professional Try Out contracts as they’ve had to assist the Jets in dealing with their injuries to start the season. Pedersen played with the Moose last season for 29 games and picked up five points (4G, 1A) in that time.

  • @Dustin Byfuglien remains suspended without pay and will likely be out until the new year with his surgery that he underwent last week. Don’t be surprised though if we hear more about his contract status as it would seem both his agent as well as the NHLPA are looking into the possibility that Buff could have been on the Injured Reserve list this entire time and at least been paid.
