When it comes to the rich history of the Winnipeg Jets, names like Dale Hawerchuk, Blake Wheeler, and Teemu Selanne come to mind. These legends made their mark in the NHL, but none of them reached the prestigious 1000-point milestone while donning a Jets jersey. Are there any current Jets who can join the exclusive 1000-point club in a Jets uniform?
When Blake Wheeler departed from Winnipeg over the summer he left as the highest scoring Winnipeg Jet and Atlanta Thrasher. Wheeler left the Jets scoring 812 points for the club over 897 games. Thanks Wheels.
There has been 97 different players in NHL history who have scored 1000 points with Mr. Hockey himself Gordy Howe was the first NHLer to reach the prestigious milestone. Currently there are 10 active players in the NHL with 1000 or more points, Joe Pavelski was the last to do it on April 10 2023.
No Jet was ever scored 1000 points in a Jets jersey the closest to do it was Dale Hawerchuk. The Jets legend had a causal 929 points in 713 games. 80’s  hockey was a different beast.  Is there currently a Jet who could hit 1000 points in Jets jersey? There’s a handful of Jets who could do it.

Mark Scheifele

Mark Scheifele, the Jets’ first-ever pick in the Jets 2.0 era, has had a consistently successful career. In his 10th full season, Scheifele has missed minimal playing time. He only missed more than 20 games in a season once back in 2017-18 but made up for it with that stellar playoff run.
With 675 points in 735 games, Scheifele has shown his ability to score points consistently. Six separate seasons saw him maintain a point-per-game pace, and this season appears no different he already has 12 points in 12 games. Even if he drops to 70-75 points for the season, he is well on track to reach the 1000-point milestone as a Winnipeg Jet, especially with a newly-signed seven-year contract.
Even if things go horribly wrong and the now longest serving Jet is only with us for five of those seasons there’s no reason we won’t celebrate number 55 both playing 1000 games and scoring 1000 points as a Winnipeg Jet. It might even lead to him getting his jersey put into the rafters of Canada Life Centre.

Kyle Connor

This is definitely a little bit more of a long shot with Kyle Connor as his contract will end long before he has the chance to score 1000 as a Jet. But lets just say the Jets have success then he and his fiance decide Winnipeg is a great place to raise little Connor Jr. along side the Hellebuyck kids. All of a sudden the chance to see two players reach 1000 points in a navy and white jersey is very real.
Connor much like Scheifele doesn’t have a history of injuries in fact he has a cleaner bill of health. The style of game he plays gives you hope that the 6’1 forward will stay healthy and can easily jump over the 1000 point benchmark. In 478 games Connor has 436 points. I wouldn’t be shocked if he can for a brief time in his career he can have more points than games played.
The way that Scheifele and Connor have chemistry is being shown game in and game out. I think Connor has a real shot to be a 100 point player either this season or next.

Players who will get close

Gabriel Vilardi

Although he has only played three games with the club Vilardi has a chance to play with the Jets for a long time and can have two great players surrounding him who he can pass the puck to daily. The 24- year-old is still a restriced free agent when his contract expires at the end of the 2024-25 season.  Although he will have arbitration rights at that time odds are the Jets will not be looking to trade the former Kings player.
Vilardi still hasn’t played a full season in the NHL last year was the closest he got playing 63 games for LA.  In 155 games in the NHL he has 78 points. In his three games with the Jets he has one. You can’t blame him on that he only got 2:23 in icetime before his injury.
The potential is there from Vilardi he has the skill, the IQ and the team mates around him to score 1000 career points. The only thing that will keep Vilardi from 1000 points in Winnipeg is the fact he hasn’t had a full or near full season in the NHL yet. Injuries keep a lot of great players down. Injuries are the only reason I am keeping a guy like Nikolaj Ehlers out of this conversation. I really hope I am wrong.
