Throwback Thursday: This week in 1995, Winnipeg Jets say goodbye as Thomas Steen’s jersey gets retired

Welcome back to this week’s edition of Throwback Thursday!
This week in 1995 (May 6), the Winnipeg Jets hosted a farewell ceremony as the club retired the jersey of Thomas Steen.
Steen was drafted by the Jets in the 5th round of the 1979 NHL draft and played his full 14-year career with the club. Over 950 games, he scored 264 goals and 817 assists. While he never won any record, Steen’s best season came in 1988-89 when he scored 27 goals and 88 points in 80 games.
The native of Grums, Sweden was a big playoff performer for the Jets showing up scoring 12 goals and 44 points in 56 post-season games. Steen’s last NHL year was in 1995, before he led to close out his pro career playing in the DEL
