Thoughts from Jets Development Camp

Standouts

• Connor – Didn’t score himself but was buzzing all over the place and set up a couple goals. Reminded me of the way Ehlers looked at these events in years past, every time he was out on the ice you were just expecting him to speed down the ice and do something fancy.
• Roslovic – Not quite the performance he had Tuesday evening but still an offensive standout and probably the best forward on team white. Scored a pretty breakaway goal off a broken play at center ice.
• Lemieux – Looked to have a little less energy today, didn’t stand out much in terms of offensive play but still getting in there and being chippy as anyone would expect.
• Foley – Similar to Lemieux, had a few nice rushes up the ice but looked a little slower today.
• Lodge – A standout for team white once again, flashed high level hands on a few rushes and was one of the few on his team that could create and sustain offense.
• Spacek – May have been my favorite forward to watch today, obviously the smallest guy on the ice but super shifty skater and big time puck hound. Came away with the puck against the boards against bigger players on many occasions and always moving the puck towards the net.
• Fronk – Continues to look like a guy with a lot more skill than the scoring he’s managed the last couple years would suggest. Hope to see him get an expanded role with the Moose this season.

• Stanley – The star of the show today, scored two goals including the nicest on the day picking up the puck in the high slot, splitting two opposing players and wiring a shot top shelf. The skills that made him a first rounder were certainly on display, and while he does struggle with decisions once the puck is on his stick, if he can iron things out over the next couple seasons you can definitely see the potential for him to be a big time player.
• Blomqvist – Tucker Poolman got hurt and left early on and they moved Axel back to defense in his spot. Definitely didn’t look out of place on D and was the trigger man on a couple of nice plays set up by Kyle Connor.
• Nogier – Very strong skater, sniped a nice goal to get team white back within one while the had the goalie pulled.
• Kostalek – Better showing than Tuesday, not always the greatest in his own end but was jumping into the rush and showing off his heavy shot.
• Green – Today’s best for me, as the game went on I found that almost every time I saw a great play from a player in white it ended up being Green. Consistently and effectively jumped into the play on offense and always seemed to be able to get back into position defensively. Nothing flashy but solid all around play had be super impressed.
