While the Manitoba Moose’s 2017-2018 campaign is in the rear-view mirror, 13 players on the Jets’ AHL affiliate won’t be heading home to their respective summer plans, just yet.
On Monday, the Winnipeg Jets announced the recall of 13 Moose players who will join the big-club for the duration of their impending Stanley Cup Run.

Recent Recalls

Mason Appleton
Eric Comrie
Chase De Leo
Jansen Harkins
Brendan Lemieux
JC Lipon
Julian Melchiori
Sami Niku
Nelson Nogier
Nic Petan
Michael Spacek
Logan Stanley
**With the exception of JC Lipon and Julian Melchiori, all of the players recalled are on entry-level contracts with the Jets.
Just to avoid any confusion, lets get this out of the way–these players aren’t being called up to play, unless they’re needed due to a dire circumstance.
As many fans will know, the Jets are healthy from top-to-bottom, with spare bodies–such as Marko Dano, Shawn Matthias, Jack Roslovic, Matt Hendricks, Dmitri Kulikov, Joe Morrow and Tucker Poolman–ready to go whenever called upon. Unless the Jets are hit with an improbable injury bug like none other–and all their scratches are thrusted into the lineup–you won’t be seeing the recent list of recalls in any playoff action this season.
This time of year, once an AHL club (who’s NHL affiliate is still in the playoffs) is eliminated, it’s typical to see the big-club bring up their prospects up for the rest of the cup run.
Come playoff time, there is no roster limit for NHL team’s.
While there is a slim-to-none chance of these players getting in the lineup, It’ll be a great developmental opportunity for many of these young-guns, as they will be able to witness what it takes to not only get to the NHL level, but to play through the vigorous grind of playoff hockey.
And that’s something that no development camp or training camp, can provide.
