Early on in this NHL season, we’ve seen a number of teams have issues with goaltending be it goalies underperforming, or goalies suffering injuries. Those teams are now looking for solutions and one of the clubs that may have an answer waiting in the AHL is the Winnipeg Jets.
As reported by Sportsnet’s Chris Johnson on Saturday night during Hockey Night In Canada, teams are calling Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff to see if Michael Hutchinson is available (spoiler alert: he is) and what the price would be to acquire him.
What the price could be for Hutchinson is anyone’s guess, but it’s worth noting that Hutchinson could easily be considered an NHL calibre backup goalie who has been squeezed out by a free agent acquisition and a goalie whom the Jets still consider a big part of their future plans, so it’s hard to think Cheveldayoff would settle for just a draft pick in return for Hutch.
The Jets also still have a bit of a logjam at defence with Tucker Poolman waiting in the press box. Is it possible that a Jets trade could involve more than just Hutchinson.

What is your reaction to the news that teams have called the Jets looking for goaltending help? What would an ideal trade be if you were the general manager? Sound off in the comments below.
