Pascal Vincent named Head Coach for the Manitoba Moose

Pascal Vincent has been named the new head coach for the Manitoba Moose.

Vincent served as one of the Winnipeg Jets assistant coaches for the last five seasons. Before then, Vincent was a bench boss in the QMJHL for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles from 2000-2008 and more recently the Montreal Juniors from 2008-2011. 

The Laval Quebec native said working with Jets head coach Paul Maurice was a learning experience and was like ” going to university every day.” 

It could be beneficial to have someone that worked closely with Paul Maurice in charge of some of the future Jets. Vincent is familiar with the style of play Maurice likes and implementing that in the AHL would help the youngsters adapt faster when they get called up to the big club. 

Former Moose head coach Keith McCambridge would talk about having conversations w int Paul Maurice about systems and such and having an in house hire like Vincent could be a better option than hiring someone from outside the organization. 

Vincent will be in charge of a young and exciting group of prospects that look to put last season’s disastrous season in the rear view mirror. 

If the Moose can acquire AHL veterans to help move the Jets young prospects along, the Moose could be competitive. Eric Comrie will likely be between the pipes for the Moose next season and that will be exciting to watch. The Jets training camp looks to be ultra competitive and the casualties at training camp will be gifts for the Moose.

Vincent could have some interesting pieces to work with.
