Myers encouraged by roster moves and ready to get back on the ice

As frustrated as you or any Winnipeg Jets player was over the way the 2016-17 season played out, it was nothing compared to what Tyler Myers had to deal with.
The 27 year old Jets defenseman who has had a history over his career of dealing with various injuries that have taken 20 or more games away at a time, suffered his worst season yet with various lower body injuries as well as personal time as he and his wife Michela dealt with their son Tristan being delivered five weeks early and without 80 percent of his blood due to a fetal maternal hemorrhage.

Going into the 2017-18 season, Myers in an interview with the Kelowna Daily Courier has stated he’s anxious to get a new season going – his next action in a Jets uniform will be the first he’s had since November, 2016 – where hopefully injury issues are a thing of the past:
“I’m excited to get the year going, I’m feeling pretty good. I didn’t get much time last year, so I’m really excited to get back into some game action.”
A Chance To Be A Dad
A silver lining to all his time missed due to injury was the ability Tyler had to spend with his wife and newborn son:
“In those first couple of months I was feeling stuff I wasn’t expecting to feel. It’s been a lot of fun. I honestly didn’t think it’d be as fun as it is. Obviously there are some tough nights where he keeps you up, but you run with it. Everything else far exceeds any night he might keep you up a couple of hours.”
The Season Upcoming
Myers – much like other Jets that have spoken up publicly over recent weeks – is also looking forward to what the Jets have put together roster wise:
“I really like our group, I like what we did this off-season, and now we’ve just got to come together as a group and execute.”
And he’s ready to do so in front of a rabid fan base hungry for success:
“When I first made the move there (to Winnipeg), I knew it was a tough barn to play in as a road team, but to be on the home side, it’s quite the atmosphere. The fans are great. You really figure out how much they understand the game. Their passion for the game makes our rink pretty fun to play in.”
You won’t find a single Jets fan who won’t be rooting for Tyler this season, not only for a full season of games – something that hasn’t truly happened since the 2010-11 campaign – but for continued health and happiness for his young family.
