As the Winnipeg Jets came out for their first skate at Regina’s Mosaic Stadium, Reporters and on-lookers were a bit surprised to see forward @Mason Appleton come out in a walking boot crutches. After practice in Paul Maurice updated reporters on the situation and it turns out that Appleton has a broken bone in his foot as the result of a football injury.
And here some of you thought that the pre-game soccer kick around was going to result in a dumb injury for the Jets. Turns out playing football in a football stadium can lead to injuries as well. This team has the dumbest luck sometimes.
Mason hasn’t been able to pick up a point in nine games played with the Jets this season after a 36 game rookie season last year where he scored three goals and ten points.
@Gabriel Bourque who was sat out of the last game against the Kings will likely draw in tomorrow night against the @Calgary Flames.
And if nothing else, we now have an understanding why Mason never suited up for the Michigan State Spartans at cornerback.
