The city of Winnipeg was buried by a blizzard of snow and ice on Friday and Saturday.

The Winnipeg Jets were buried by a blizzard of Penguins goals on Sunday as Pittsburgh got a measure of revenge from their loss a week ago by beating up on the Jets 7-2.

A crazy first five minutes as the Jets finally opened the game with a lead thanks to a bit of a fluke goal from @Mathieu Perreault who took the mantra “throw the puck on net” to a new level.

A few minutes later the Penguins tied things up at 1-1 as they capitalized on their own scramble around the net.

After that, things settled down for both sides as the teams played more of a neutral zone type game with few good scoring chances on either side. Shots were even at 9-9 after 20 minutes of play.

The Penguins are known as a second period team and it showed as they scored a couple of times in the first half of the second period, once on the power play with a very nifty goal and then again on a bit of a fluke (maybe set up?) play.

The Jets got a power play goal of their own on a bit of a fluke play as well, but you’re not going to hear @Mark Scheifele complain..

Both teams actually played well enough and again shots were even at 10-10 but it was another play on the left side of @Laurent Brossoit that got the Penguins a two goal lead again as Brossoit was a little slow to cover the lower left side yet again.

It got ugly.

The last two goals coming directly off the faceoff are very concerning, the last being a short handed goal – the second in as many nights scored against the Jets – is even more so.

The Jets overall team defense was exposed badly in this game and Brossoit was unable to do nothing to bail his club out in this game.

Bad defense. Bad goaltending. Bad coaching. Bad everything.

Hard to pick one as there really wasn’t much to pick from in terms of “good” for the Jets, but if we’re going to pick a player than @Nikolaj Ehlers is a pretty safe bet. Honestly, this is the kind of game where no one really deserves any kind of praise, it was that bad.

The Jets get to try and enjoy Thanksgiving at home after that performance, and then they will host the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday as the home stand continues. Puck drop is set for 7 pm CST and will be on TSN 3 and TSN 1290.
