The Jets should be looking to get back in the win column after last night’s loss to Philadelphia, bringing them up to 6-4-0 in the last ten games. This will be Boston’s first game back after a bye week, their last game played was a loss versus the New York Rangers on January 19th. The last time these teams met up was last season in a match that saw a draw the Jets settled in a shootout. Boston will still be without Tuuka Rask who is currently listed as day-to-day.

Jets Player To Watch

#44 Josh Morrissey – Defense

It’s hard to believe that Josh Morrissey is still flying under the radar outside of Winnipeg. Morrissey is currently tied with his career high for points at 26, and is two goals away from his 7 from last year as well. He’s turned into a mainstay on the Jets’ defensive line and has made himself an invaluable asset to the Jets with Dustin Byfuglien and Ben Chiarot out with injuries.

Last Jets Game:

Last night the Jets played how you would expect them to play after coming off of a bye week, a little sluggish at times but not terrible. The worst part was their continued inability to get pucks into the net which has been a problem at times. Philadelphia saw 3 goals within the second and third periods by Varone, Konecny and van Riemsdyk. The Jets’ only goal scorer was Jack Roslovic with his third of the year.

Jets Notebook:

  • With a single point tonight, Josh Morrissey will be set to break his career high in points
  • Happy birthday Jack Roslovic! Jack turns twenty-two today.
  • Brandon Tanev scored his first career hat trick the last time these teams saw each other

Bruins Player To Watch

#88 David Pastrnak – Right Wing

What’s not to like about Pasta? He’s had a pretty great season so far with 49 points over 56 games played (27 goals, 29 assists), helped his team win this year’s Winter Classic at Notre Dame Stadium, marking a goal and an assist, and won the accuracy shooting contest at the All-Star skills competition. What makes him fun to watch is his spatial awareness and ability to snap pucks from the face-off circle.

Last Bruins Game

The Bruins are just coming off of their Bye week, their last game played being on January 19th against the New York Rangers. It was in this game that they lost goaltender Tuuka Rask to a concussion after he took Filip Chytil to the face. The Bruins scored first with a goal from Danton Heinen late in the first period, but with a goal from both Chytil and Mika Zibanejad put the Rangers up by one in the second period. Late in the third period the Bruins took the game to overtime after Brad Marchand slammed a pass from Pastrnak into the net, tying the game. But it was another goal from Zibanejad that brought Rangers the victory that night.

Bruins Notebook:

  • Tuuka Rask and Jaroslav Halak have the same save percentage of 0.919% after 26 games a piece
  • On January 17th, Zdeno Chara became number 27 on the NHL career leaders for games played list, dropping Teemu Selanne down one. At the end of the regular season he will have surpassed Glen Wesley, Doug Gilmour and Rod Brind’Amour for number 23.
  • Brad Marchand has not licked anyone for 271 days
