The Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild both start their 2017 preseason schedules when they face off against each other tonight in Winnipeg. Jets head coach Paul Maurice hasn’t wasted any time getting some of his veteran players involved as he’s gone mostly with a group that will be lined up against the Toronto Maple Leafs come October 4th, but there are a few rookies and prospects sprinkled in who have a chance to impress.

  • The Jets top six will get their work in as Paul Maurice looks to develop some chemistry and figure out which forwards will work best together to start the season. Don’t be surprised however if Laine and Scheifele are joined at the hip all season long.
  • Hellebuck will get the start, expect Comrie to come in half-way through the game

MINNESOTA WILD: LINES & NOTES

No confirmation of lines given out by anyone as of publishing time, but Michael Russo (who is a must follow on Twitter for any of your Minnesota Wild news) tweeted out the following on Sunday:
  • Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau stated that Niklas Svedberg who they signed as a free agent over the summer from the KHL will play the first two periods, Steve Michalek – who spent his time last season in the AHL with the Iowa Wild – will play in the third.
  • The Wild have already sent down four junior eligible players a couple of days into camp.
  • Seriously, it’s the first game of the preseason, notes are going to be sparse. We’ll all get our first look at new Wild players Marcus (Sorry I’m not Nick) Foligno and Tyler Ennis I guess?
