JN Flight Plan #69: Vegas Golden Knights @ Winnipeg Jets

alt

Vegas has been rolling. Since the All-Star Break, the @Vegas Golden Knights are 11-2-1. In the middle of all that was an eight game winning streak that was broken by the @Los Angeles Kings of all teams this past Sunday. They are first in the Pacific division, but as a testament to how competitive the NHL is, they are only two points up on The @Edmonton Oilers despite having gone on this recent surge.
That’s what the @Winnipeg Jets have staring them in the face tonight as the Jets will try to win and keep pace in the tight Wild Card race.

Last Golden Knights Game

In his second game as a Golden Knight, @Robin Lehner stopped all 27 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season as Vegas had very little trouble dispatching the @New Jersey Devils 3-0

What They’re Saying…

Stone has a few things going for him. Stone has the best takeaway count of anyone in the NHL so far this season, with a staggering 10-steal lead. He had the most takeaways last season as well, and is poised to repeat it. Stone has the best Corsi, shot share, the third-best expected goal share, second best high-danger share and has started the third-most in his own zone of anyone in this group.

Last Jets Game

The Jets scored at even strength, shorthanded, and on the power play, as Kyle Connor notched a pair of goals and Connor Hellebuyck stopped 25 of 26 shots faced as the @Winnipeg Jets started their three game home stand with a solid 3-1 win over the @Buffalo Sabres.

Fun Jets Facts…

  • Winnipeg plays six of their last 14 games at home. The Jets have won four consecutive home games to improve to 18-14-3 on the season. They are also is also 7-2-1 in their past 10 home games.
  • Winnipeg is 10-6-3 this season when having two days or more of rest.
  • Kyle Connor has scored in four consecutive games, which is a career high for longest goal scoring streak. He is one of three players in the NHL to score at least 30 goals in each of the past three seasons and his 100 goals during the past three seasons is tied for 10th in the NHL.
  • With a pair of assists on Tuesday, @Blake Wheeler now has seven assists in his past eight games to reach 40 assists for the fifth consecutive season and seventh time in his career.
  • The Jets have earned a point in five of their last seven games against Vegas.

What We’re Saying…

During Winnipeg’s victory over Las Vegas earlier this season, their team allowed all three goals in the first period while tallying just one of their own. Since Jan. 1, both the Jets and the Knights have been two of the worst teams in the league during the first 20 minutes of a game. During that span, Las Vegas is tied for the most goals allowed (31) and Winnipeg is tied for the third-most goals allowed (30) during the first period.
