Training camp competition is now in full effect for the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets have trimmed their roster down to 25 forwards, 13 defenseman and four goaltenders and the battling for spots has truly begun. The Jets will face the Calgary Flames tonight at 8:00 CT for their fourth pre-season tilt and you can catch the game on TSN3 and as usual you can give the game a listen on TSN 1290 Radio.

– Josh Morrissey will be suiting up in front of his hometown crowd tonight. The Calgary native will likely see lots of ice time tonight as he’s skating on the Jets top pairing and will continue to log big minutes as he has thus far in the preseason.
– The Tanev-Lowry-Burmistrov unit could shape up to be the Jets fourth line this year. If that ends up being the case, that would be the best fourth line the Jets have ever had with a blend of speed and defensive skill on display.
– Pavelec makes his pre-season debut tonight and he has more to prove than years past. Pavelec will be battling with Connor Hellebuyck for the team’s starting goalie position and even though Pavelec has been the team’s number one for the last five seasons, he looks to be in an underdog position to win out the starting job.

– RFA forward Johnny Gaudreau is still absent from Flames training camp but don’t be quick to think that signals a trade. Gaudreau’s agent Lewis Gross told Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman ” We have no intention of asking for a trade at this time.” Cause for concern is warranted but Gaudreau’s camp thinks a deal could be had and Gaudreau’s temmeate and friend Sean Monahan is confident a deal could be had as well:
– Expect to see lots of juice from Calgary’s end tonight. The Flames training camp roster is currently pegged at 49 players and after the completion of tonight’s games, the roster looks to be trimmed substantially. Lot’s of players are fighting to live another day at camp and that’ll likely show in tonight’s contest.
Prediction
4-2 Jets, Patrik Laine gets a power play goal.
