JGD 60: Jets attempt to prevent history against Pens
The Jets are faced with a difficult task to kickstart their four-game Eastern Conference road trip.
Tonight, Winnipeg will face off against a Pittsburgh team that hopes to have one of their own join elite company. With a single point tonight, Sidney Crosby will reach the prestigious 1,000 point plateau. The opportunity to reach such a milestone on home-ice will certainly bring upon a motivated Crosby and that’s the last thing the Jets want to face off against.
Puck drop tonight is slated for 6:00 CT and you can catch all the action on TSN3 and as always, TSN 1290 radio.

- The Jets will be without both Andrew Copp and Toby Enstrom for this upcoming road trip. With both Enstrom and Myers sidelined, the Jets back end is growing terribly thin. Couple that with inconsistent goaltending, it’d be hard to foresee the Jets turning things around.
- With Copp injured, Paul Maurice has brought out the line blender up front. Mathieu Perreault will re-join the Jets top-six and the Jets third line of Shawn Matthias, Adam Lowry and Joel Armia reunites.
- Against such a high-flying offensive team, the Jets could be in some real trouble. The Jets bottom pairing of Paul Postma and Mark Stuart is not only unreliable at times, but a negative on the overall impact of the team. Sorry Dustin Byfuglien, but your minutes won’t be scaled down anytime soon.
- Both Bryan Little and Blake Wheeler have 9 points in their last 10 games. The Jets offense continues to thrive and it’s such a shame they have a lacklustre defensive game to go along with it.

- Marc-Andre Fleury will be between the pipes for the Penguins tonight. Fleury has a 14-7-5 record along with a 3.17 goals against average and a .904 save percentage.
- Who is that on the right side of Sidney Crosby? Well, that’s Jake Guentzel and he’s pretty darn good. The 22-year-old winger has 11 points in 18 games and has added another dynamic talent to the Pens’ deep top-nine. An interesting story about Guenztel is when teammate Phil Kessel played at the University of Minnesota, Guenztel was the teams stick-boy.
