JGD 16: Jets Fly High Into Colorado

Guess who’s back? Back again? Trouba’s back! Tell a friend!
Also, the quest for an eliusive third win in a row happens yet again, this time in Colorado as the Jets wrap up their mini two game road trip in Denver against the Avalanche
The Avs meanwhile are looking to avoid a three game losting streak and a sixth loss in their last seven games played. The Jets meanwhile are 3-1-1 in their last five and have maybe the hottest top line in all of hockey with Scheifele, Ehlers and Laine.
The last meeting between the two division rivals ended in a 1-0 shutout for Michael Hutchinson and the Jets in Colorado

WINNIPEG JETS

7-7-1, tied for 3rd in the Central Division

As it is the second of a road back-to-back (and given that he did shut them out last time he played them) expect Hutchinson to get the nod in goal tonight.
As mentioned Trouba will be back in the lineup but we’re not sure who sits (Postma or Chiarot we assume) and who exactly he will play with.
Otherwise it’s status quo for this team as there is no one coming back from injury but thankfully no one missing due to it after last night’s game

COLORADO AVALANCHE

5-7-0, Last in the Central Division
The Avs can’t score. They currently sit 29th in the league in goals for and when you pair that with a middle of the road defense and a regressing Semyon Varlamov, you should expect to be sitting in last place in the tough Central division. Varlamov will get the start tonight after having had the last three Avalanche games off. His last game was a 5-1 drubbing against the St. Louis Blues that he was chased out of after two periods. The Avs don’t quite have the kind of offensive fire going like the Jets seem to do, so look for Colorado to play a physical game and wear down a Jets team that could be a little on the road weary side playing it’s fourth game in the span of six days.

PREDICTIONS

Obvious Prediction:
There really is no pressure to rush him in at the moment thanks to two very solid wins, so don’t expect to see Jacob Trouba in tonight’s game either.
Not-So Obvious Prediction:
Varlamov benefits from the time off and shuts down a Jets team that comes flying out early but loses steam in the 3rd.
Gameday Prediction:
Avs steal a 2-1 win at home as the offense sputters a bit and the Jets issues with winning three in a row continue.
