It’s not quite NHL playoff hockey in May or even AHL level playoffs in the spring, but Jets fans still have a chance to see a handful of Jets players as they play in the IIHF World Championships taking part this year in Cologne, Germany and Paris, France.
Mark Scheifele, Josh Morrissey, and Eric Comrie are all wearing the beloved red and white of Canada. Jacob Trouba, Andrew Copp, and Connor Hellebuyck make up another trio of Jets who are representing Team USA. Last but not least everyone’s favorite Great Dane, Nik Ehlers is skating for Denmark.
Here, we’ll recap the daily exploits of their teams and their individual performances:

DENMARK DONE IN BY LATVIA

Denmark did have some recent success against Latvia having won three of the last four matchups they had, and they came out very strong early against Latvia, but Elvis Merzlikins stopped everything shot in his direction and halfway through Latvia was able to take over en-route to a 3-0 win over the Danes.

As expected, Nik Ehlers led all Denmark forwards in ice time logging 19:03 with two shots on goal and a minor penalty taken in the third period.
By the way, did you know Bob Hartley – yes, *that* Bob Hartley who once coached the Atlanta Thrashers – is coaching Latvia? Now you do…
Anyway, it doesn’t get any easier for Denmark tomorrow as they will play Jacob Trouba, possibly Connor Hellebuyck in goal,  and the rest of Team USA.
