Jets Nation Recap: Florida Jagrs Jagr The Jets Again Jagr to 2

This is the dream Jets fans!
The Jets as a whole were generally very good, they out-played their opposition, Ondrej Pavelec was bad and let in at least two stinkers and the Jets end up losing at home against Florida 3-2.
The tank rolls on!
You couldn’t have scripted this game much better really.
The Jets dominated play for the first periods, out-shooting the Panthers and being denied time and again by Roberto Luongo. On the Panthers 5th shot of the period 13:48 into the period the Panthers took a 1-0 lead after a partial 2 on 1 rush saw Reilly Smith redirect a puck past Pavelec.
The second period was more of the same as the Jets continued to play well, get scoring chances and actually took a lead as Dustin Byfuglien tied it up off a goal mouth scramble, and then Andrew Copp kept up his strong play with breakaway goal off a Alex Burmistrov pass.
And while the Jets deserved credit for the solid play, the Panthers looked like a team trying to blend three new players into the lineup all at once with no actual time to practice before hand.
Then almost magically the Panthers actually figured it out a bit to start the third period while Pavelec remembering what the tank mission really is at the same time and within four minutes of that third period (3:31 to be exact) the Jets had gone from up 2-1 to trailing 3-2 after a second goal from Smith that Pavelec should have stopped (although to be fair the Panthers were in the middle of a 5 on 3 powerplay and had been putting on all kinds of pressure in the Jets zone) and a game winning goal from Jaromir Jagr that Pavelec REALLY should have stopped.
And scene!

THREE KEYS

Pavelectric – Stopped 19 of 22 shots and finished with a .864 save percentage. Nuff said.
WheEhelrs – Three things we learned: 1, These two work great together and make us feel happy things at the thought of them being together next season. 2, Ehlers looks like he has all sorts of confidence now to wheel around the ice and create scoring chances. He looks relaxed out there. 3, We’re just going to have to accept that when they are both on the ice, Dennis Beyak is going to keep saying “Wheelers”
5 on 5 – Just a reminder that the Jets are still a good team when playing even strength as tonight was a bit more proof of that fact yet again…
It’s the special teams (and goaltending) that have been killers.
