Jets Extend Bryan Little To A Six Year Deal

The Winnipeg Jets open up camp on Thursday morning and drop a little bit of a shocker on everyone as they’ve extended the contract of forward Bryan Little
As was first reported by Jets insider Jamie Thomas, the Jets inked Little to a six year deal worth #31.75 million. The contract carries an AAV (Annual Average Value) of $5.291 million and as was reported by Darren Dregger also includes a couple of no-movement clauses.
The 29 year old forward is already entering his eleventh pro season – all of them spent with the Atlanta Thrashers / Winnipeg Jets franchise. In 672 games played, he has picked up 432 points which includes 184 goals which places him second all-time in Thrashers/Jets scoring. The Edmonton, Alberta native was a first round pick of the Thrashers back in 2006 when he was selected 12th overall.
The contract itself which kicks in on July 1st of 2018 is a raise of about $500 thousand per year. It leaves Little as the third highest paid Jet forward behind Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler, although that is likely to change in the next year or so.
Little has been consistently been a solid performer for the Jets since their move to Winnipeg having hit the 20+ goal mark in five different seasons, although his role with the Jets has diminished somewhat with the emergence of Mark Scheifele as the team’s number one center. Little for now despite the fact that he may be in the twilight of his prime years remains a solid presence on the club’s second line.
The last two seasons have seen him battle injuries, but when he’s been on the ice he’s been very impactful, posting 21 goals and 47 points in 59 games played last season. He has had four straight seasons where he has posted 40+ points.
