The Jets, who are 15-9-1 this season, also face the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday and are 4-1 in their last five games when they are also playing the next day. While Winnipeg ranks 22nd in the NHL in five-on-five shot-attempt percentages (48.95 percent), all but one forward on their top two lines centered by Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler recorded at least one point during their 5-1 away win against the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday. The Jets are 19th in the NHL in goals scored (2.84) and 12th in goals against. Winnipeg boasts a 16th-ranked power play (16.2 percent) and 24th-ranked penalty killing unit (75.0)
Goalie Connor Hellebuyck is 12-7-1 with a 2.34 goals-against average and .930 save percentage this season.
The Ducks are 11-11-4, but have only one win in their last five games. Production from the top end of the lineup has been problematic for Anaheim, whose top two lines are helmed by Ryan Getzlaf and Adam Henrique, as they rank 25th in the NHL in five-on-five shot-attempt percentages (48.95 percent). The Ducks are 23rd in goals scored (2.73) and 18th in goals against (3.00). The power play ranks 30th, or second-worst in the league (10.3 percent), while the penalty killing unit ranks 23rd (76.7)
The Ducks’ No. 1 goalie, John Gibson, is 8-10-2 this season with a 2.86 goals-against average and .911 save percentage.
Following Saturday’s game against Los Angeles, the Jets have a two-day turnaround before hosting the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.
