Game one without the top scorer Kyle Connor starts tonight in San Jose for the Winnipeg Jets. It’s also another game where the Jets will fight to be on top of the central division, as the Colorado Avalanche would sneak out a 6-5 victory over the Calgary Flames on Monday night.
The Jets are currently third in the Central Division and are in the top ten of the NHL with a 16-8-2 record. They are taking on the league worst San Jose Sharks who have a record of 8-17-3.
Gabriel Vilardi will slot into the right wing on the top line with Nikolaj Ehlers sliding over to the left wing of Mark Scheifele. Morgan Barron will move up to the second line right wing and Alex Iafallo is down on the fourth line for tonight’s contest.
The Jets are looking for their fifth straight win tonight. The Sharks have picked up a least a point in three of their last four games.
The Sharks have had the Jets number over the last five games between the two teams owning a 3-2 record and outscoring the Jets 14-13 in that time.
Laurent Brossoit will start the first of the back-to-back games the Jets will play this week. Mackenzie Blackwood should get the start for the Sharks. The Jets should treat this game like a shooter tooter is in net as Blackwood’s record is bleek only winning three of his 19 starts and owns a 3.83 goals against average and an .895 save percentage.

JETS NATION PRESENTED BY BETWAY

Blackwood has a 2-0-1 record against the Jets and has allowed nine goals against in five different appearances against Winnipeg.
As we wait for a concrete timeline of Kyle Connor’s injury I am very excited to see what Barron can do in the top six. The guy has been picking up garbage goals lately which is always a plus for a young player. I don’t think during this stint Barron will become a bona fide top six player in the NHL but this could be the time where the 25 year old grows into that position.

Projected Lineup:
Ehlers – Scheifele – Vilardi
Perfetti – Namestnikov – Barron
Niederreiter – Lowry – Appleton
Iafallo – Gustafsson – AJF
Morrissey – DeMelo
Dillon – Pionk
Samberg – Schmid
Brossoit (.903 SV%)
Hellebuyck (.915 SV%)
Puck drop this evening is at 9:30 CST. You can watch the game on TSN3 or listen in on CJOB.
