The Jets straight up stole this game from the St. Louis Blues. Don’t believe me? Take a look for yourself.

Observations

Sure, I guess you could say the Jets had a better start. If by that you mean that it took about four minutes before St. Louis got a chance. After that, they absolutely dominated the Jets throughout the period, scoring twice and rattling the post at least three times. Once again, this game could have been out of hand early.
The line of Scheifele – Ladd – Frolik was absolutely dominated. Ladd’s even strength chances came while Scheifele rode some pine and in overtime. Despite the fact that they were abet to generate some shots, they were mostly from a distance and outside of good scoring areas. I’m not ready to give up on this trio though, as the generation of shots will eventually lead into scoring chances and goals.
Kane, Little and Wheeler had a decent game offensively, and were the only line that really created some solid offense. I’d like to see them stick together for a while longer. It seems as if Wheeler is slowly starting to awaken.
Please Claude. When Trouba gets back, keep him away from Stuart.
Toby Enstrom had another fantastic game. If not for the defensive risk that is constantly around with Clitsome and Byfuglien paired up, I wouldn’t hate seeing Bogo and Toby together. Byfuglien and Enstrom are a fantastic defensive pairing, and Bogosian and Trouba hold their own well. When Trouba recovers, Claude should go back to them as the top four.
How good is that Steen – Backes – Oshie line? I’m not looking forward to having that in the same division as the Jets.
Once again, the Jets held an opponent to a single chance on multiple power plays. Say what you will, the PK has been solid.
This was a weird game. Pavelec wasn’t great; the Jets didn’t outplay the Blues, yet they won. How? I’d say it was because of Brian Elliot and weird bounces. Jokinen’s goal was just a terrible rebound with a crazy flutter, and Kane’s goal was a crazy deflection. Credit to the boys though. After injuries pushed them down to four defensemen they refused to give up, and fought back to force overtime and stole this game.

Moving Forward

The Jets play Nashville on Sunday night, a team that has only scored 14 goals in 7 games.  The Predators play in Montréal tonight, so the Jets will have a solid chance to improve to 2-1 on the week and 5-4 on the season.
