The Run Down
The Winnipeg Jets are coming off of an embarrassing 5-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. It was a game that over less than 10 minutes in as the Avalanche would score four early goals. Mason Appleton was the lone Jets scorer and Connor Hellebuyck would get pulled for the third period. The Islanders are also coming off of a loss this one was much less awful as the Islanders would lose at home to the LA Kings 2-3. A win for the Jets will put them back into second place in the division, the Islanders are looking to lock-up the first wildcard in the Eastern Conference.
Primary Bet – Jets to win (Moneyline) – (-138)
A $1 bet would pay out $1.72. The Jets are the favorites to win in this matinee contest. The Jets are coming off a bad game and haven’t picked up many points lately they should be hungry and have the skill to take down a team that is fighting to stay in a tight playoff hunt. As well Connor Hellebuyck is the expected starter also plays lights out hockey in games after having a sub .900 save percentage. The bad times can’t last forever the winning ways will return.
Secondary Bet –under 4.5 goals – (+220)
A $1 bet will turn into $3.20 The Islanders don’t score a lot of goals or give up much and Hellebuyck is going to be locked in this is going to be a game of very few goals. Under3.5 goals was avalible at +350 but those odds still don’t feel good enough to make that wager. According to hockey-reference.com the Jets starter has a 2.94 goals against average in eight games against the Islanders. the Islanders give up only 2.74 goals against. This will be a dull affair for the next generation game.
Tertiary Bet – Kevin Stenlund anytime goal– (+450)
A 1$ bet will turn into $5.50. This is a bold bet on the fourth liner but Kevin Stenlund has been sniffing around the net for the last week and has been unlucky with a broken stick or pucks just going wide. Stenlund is due for a goal and at that stat line you have to like it. Stenlund had four shots in the last game let’s see if he can keep that momentum going.
