It’s the night before American Thanksgiving. 76.7% of teams that are in a playoff spot at this point of the season have made the post season. The Winnipeg Jets will get passed the quarter way mark of the season on top of the NHL.
The first period was not kind to the Jets once again. They were outplayed for the first 15 minutes, they would get some control towards the end of the period.
The Jets would only manage 3 shots in the first 15 minutes of play. Vladislav Namesnikov would got to the box for slashing Phillip Danault at 1:48 into the game. Anze Kopitar would open the scoring just four seconds later on the power play.
Can’t blame Connor Hellebuyck on this one. The puck was tipped on it’s way to the net after the big offensive zone win. Jets were ultimately out shot 13-5 in the first period.  You can definatley see the fact the Jets have been away from home more often than not over the last two and a half weeks
It was a lackluster first period for the Jets.
Early in the period the Rasmus Kuapri and the Jets had a chance to get on the score board with a rarely seen penalty shot. he was unsuccessful in the one on one battle against David Rittich.
After the penalty shot the Kings would own the majority of the period once again.. The Jets would become relient on Connor Hellebuyck unfortunately the Jets goalie would fall to Phillip Danault  who was commited to the rebounding puck would score his own garbage goal.
Gaberiel Vilardi scoring goals against the Kings is just a guarantee at this point. The Jets would take advantage of their first power play chance of the night. He would find the back of the net just nine second into the power play and much like Danault on his goal.
The Jets were suffocated against the 1-3-1 by the Kings throughout the first 40 minutes but the Jets would put two pucks pass Rittich that would ring off the cross bar. Jets were out shot 24-12 after the the second period and were 1/2 with the extra man. They just need to have a little luck on their side going into the third period.
…Luck went to one of the teams in the third and it wasn’t the Jets. The Kings would come out hungry and score on a lucky bounce off of Haydn Fluery’s skate after the Kings forced their way into the zone.
The Kings would finish the game off with an empty netter at 17:04 from Adrian Kempe.
This was a late game on a long road trip for the Jets and third time zone in five days, I am not upset but only two shots in the third period is just unacceptable for the team on top of the NHL.
The Jets haven’t shown up against the teams that are “locked in” after suffering a big loss. The Kings took at 7-2 beat down from the San Jose Sharks in their last game, if you go back to the loss against the Florida Panthers who lost their two games before they beat the Jets in their first meeting. And even look at the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning who lost their three games prior to the beating the Jets in their second meeting.
In the end the Jets lost 4-1 and were out shot 33-14. They were 1 for 3 on the power play and would go would go 1 for 2 on the penalty kill. This wasn’t the Jets worst outing but they are 3-4-0 in their last seven games.
Hellebuyck would stop 29 of 32 giving him a .909 save percentage. Rittich would stop 13 of 14 on the night the Jets had very few grade A chances. Mark Scheifele would play the most out of the forwards at 20:42 of ice-time. Nikolaj Ehlers would be a minus three on the night.
They have two big games to end the longest road trip of the season against the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday and then the Dallas Stars to end the road trip Sunday afternoon.
