The Winnipeg Jets are playing the late game tonight in LA to take on the Kings. The Jets are looking to get another winning streak going they won their last game 4-1 on Monday night against the Minnesota Wild. With that win Connor Hellebuyck would be the fourth goaltender in NHL history to win 15 games of his first 17 games in a season. As well, Alex Iafallo would score his 100th NHL career goal.
The LA Kings are coming off a 7-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks. Former Jets goaltender David Rittich would give up seven goals on 21 shots in that game. LA is currently holding onto the first wild card playoff spot in the West. The Jets are still four points up on the second place New Jersey Devils with two games in hand.
Big note for the Kings their starter Darcy Kuemper would be put on the injured reserve on November 15th and unless Kings prospect goaltender Erik Portillo wants his rookie start against the league leading Jets I’m sure we will see big save Dave in net for the Kings. Prior to the 7 goal game against Rittch he had only allowed six goals against in his previous three starts. He is 3-1-1 in 7 games with a goals against average of 2.13 and a save percentage of .934 against the Jets in his career. The Kings are 5-5-0 in their last ten.
Connor Hellebuyckhas a 6-7-1 record in 14 games with a goals against average of 3.21 and a save percentage of .902 versus the Kings in his career. The two time Vezina winner is still looking for his 1st shutout against the Kings.
The Jets have the ability to pad their penalty kill stats tonight the Kings have the 28th ranked power play at just 15.2%. The Kings are scoring an average of 2.95 goals a game, where as the the Jets are leading the NHL averaging 4.05 goals a game. Anze Kopitar leads the Kings with 25 points and Adrian Kempe leads the team with 10 goals. Kopitar has the most goals and points agianst the Jets as a King with 16 goals and 36 points against the Jets in 34 games.
Kyle Connor continues to lead the Jets with 13 goals and 27 points. While Mark Scheifele leads the active Jets with 20 points against LA, while Connor and Nikolaj Ehlers have each scored seven against them.
The Jets have won each of their last eight games against Pacific Division opponents. The Kings have lost each of their last four night games against Western Conference opponents. Logan Stanley was seen practicing with a white contact jersey this week meaning he could return before this road trip is over. Heinola and Fleury will remain in  the line-up for tonight’s contest. Drew Doughty, Arthur Kaliyev and Caleb Jones will miss this game with injuries.
