Some exciting news recently came out for Winnipeg Jets fans on October 9th as the Jets have extended forward Mark Scheifele and goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to matching seven-year deals with 8.5 million cap hits. It was a huge surprise to many across the hockey world when the news came out since it seemed like the Winnipeg Jets were looking to move on from both players as they did with Blake Wheeler and Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Scheifele, 30, is coming off a career-high season in goals (42). He played in 81 regular season games and recorded 68 points with 26 assists. In 11 seasons with the Jets, he has a total of 723 games played 272 goals and 645 points.

Scheifele was drafted in the 2011 NHL draft, 7th overall in the 1st round and was the Jets’ first draft pick after relocating back to Winnipeg from Atlanta.

Hellebuyck, 30, who won the 2019-20 Vezina, is coming off an outstanding 37-win season where he had a 2.49 goals-against average, a .920 save percentage and four shutouts. He was nominated for Vezina as the league’s top goaltender.

Hellebuyck was chosen by the Jets in the 5th round with the 130th overall pick in the 2012 NHL draft.
