Brenden Dillon is going to be day to day with the hand laceration he sustained at the end of Friday night’s 6-2 loss game three loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
“Our doctors did a fantastic job stitiching him up. There’s no damage that’s the most important thing we will keep him day to day.”
Day to day could mean anything from he doesn’t skip a beat and back out tomorrow but I assume that is highly unlikely. It could also mean we don’t the Jets veteran defender until the second round.
When asked what the Jets would miss about missing Dillon, Bowness would sing the praises of the 6’4 defender.
“He’s one of our toughest competitors, he’s a tremendous teammate, he gives 100 percent every shift, he’s tough as nails, he battles everybody, he blocks shots, he does everything you want your veteran defenceman to do. He’s a great leader on the ice and in the room, he brings a lot to the table for us.”
Logan Stanley could potentally slide into the third pairing with Nate Schmidt and Dylan Samberg would find himself on the second pair with Neal Pionk, if Dillon misses tomorrow.
So far in the playoffs Dillon has 12 hits and six blocks, three assists and nine shot attempts. He also eats up an average of 21:04 of ice time.
As well today the Jets would bring up Axel Jonsson-Fjallby from the Manitoba Moose. He could play for the Jets to give the Jets a boost for the penalty kill. The penalty kill has not been good only killing seven of 11 Colorado power plays this post season.
