Bowness would say “Sam Gagner has had hip issues over the last little while and has elected to have some surgery, so he is out .The hips have been bothering him he had an operation on one the other day and I think he’s going to have another one in two weeks when that one settles down”
Gagner,33, was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers sixth overall in 2007. He could sign a one-year deal with the Jets on Sept.02 with a league minimum deal. In 48 games with the Jets, Gagner has score eight goals and six assists and would play his 1000th NHL career game. The London, Ont. native, scored the game winner in his very first game with the Jets against the New York Rangers.
