The Winnipeg Jets are ramping up for the regular season which is just 8 days away! Tonight the Calgary Flames are in Winnipeg to take on a mostly full Jets line up at Canada Life Centre starting at 7 PM. The Jets dropped their last game 8-5 to the Minnesota Wild, Connor Hellebuyck would allow seven goals against in the second period. The Jets are 1-2-1 in the preseason. The Flames are having a great time in the preseason, they are 5-0-1, and most recently defeated the Seattle Kraken 4-3 in Overtime.
The top six forward group looks like it will be what we will see on October 9th. The bottom six is interesting Brad Lambert finds himself on the fourth line with Nino Niederreiter and Chibrikov. Adam Lowry centers the third line with Jaret Anderson-donal and David Gustafsson.
On defence we see the Josh Morrissey Dylan DeMelo pairing. Then lots of young guys in the bottom four. Haydn Fleury with Dylan Coghlan. Finally Elias Salonmonsson and Simon Lundmark.
Connor Hellebuyck will get the start tonight for the Jets. He is looking to get back into his groove after a rough first preseason game having a .724 SV%
Scott Arniel would talk to the media today and talk about today’s preseason game. “This will be more season like tonight as a lot of them will be back in Friday. So we want to see good habits.”
Arniel and the Jets will have to make some cuts and from the sounds of it will be a difficult process to make cuts between tonight and Friday. With Ville Heinola and Logan Stanley out with injuries has opened up a couple spots that guys like Lundmark  and Coghlan.
After tonight the Jets have one last preseason game against the Flames then we are on to the real deal of the regular season.Which starts next Wednesday in Edmonton.
Tonight’s game can be watched on TSN 3 and heard on 680 CJOB and Power 97.
