<p>On Monday, just before the Winnipeg Jets took on the Boston Bruins, it was announced that Jets forward Kyle Connor is heading to the NHL All-Star game! On Tuesday morning, the Big Ten would announce its weekly stars, and the Captain of Team USA in the 2024 World Juniors, Rutger McGroarty, is the B1G first star of the week.</p>
<p><strong>Kyle Connor: All-Star</strong></p>
<p>Connor is attending his second All-Star weekend of his career in Toronto from February 1st to 3rd, joining goaltender Connor Hellebuyck for his fourth All-Star appearance and Rick Bowness for his first NHL All-Star weekend.</p>
<p>This welcome surprise has Connor replacing Chicago Blackhawks rookie star Connor Bedard. Bedard could have been the youngest All-Star in NHL history but had his jaw broken after taking a big hit from New Jersey Devils defenseman Brendan Smith in early January.</p>
<p>Connor was on pace for 54 goals before his knee injury sustained on December 10th against the Anaheim Ducks. Since his return, he has scored a single empty-net goal in his first three games back. In 29 games this season, the 6&#8217;1&#8243; forward is a point-per-game player who has scored 18 goals.</p>

<p>Over the weekend of January 19th and 20th, 2022, first-round draft pick Rutger McGroarty scored eight points in two games against Michigan State. If you were wondering how McGroarty managed to score eight points on his own team, keep in mind that there are two schools, Michigan and Michigan State. Thanks to the American post-secondary school system for making sense.</p>
<p>In game one, McGroarty scored a goal and three assists in the victory over Michigan State on the night of the 19th. In the Saturday game, McGroarty scored four points in his second straight game. Although the two goals and two assists were massive for the Michigan Wolverines, it wasn&#8217;t enough for them to beat the Michigan State Spartans.</p>
<p>This is the second time the Jets&#8217; first-rounder has earned the weekly award this season and in his career.</p>
