Tonight the original Jets franchise visits Winnipeg for the first time in it’s third iteration. The Utah Hockey Club had a hot start but have cooled off where the Jets are still on a red hot start to the season. The Jets have won their last three games scoring six or more goals. Utah is coming off an overtime 4-3 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday night they have picked up 3 out of their last 4 points.
Utah is currently sitting in the final wild card playoff spot in the west playing one less game than the Edmonton Oilers. UHC recently traded for defenceman Olli Maatta who should be playing on the third pairing.
Utah has John Marino and Sean Durzi on IR and will both miss tonight. The Jets players on IR, Ville Heinola and Jaret Anderson-Dolan were both seen at practice Monday morning wearing the yellow non-contact jerseys. Their time line to return is still unknown.
The Jets lead the NHL with 59 goals. Utah is 16th with 37. The Jets have allowed the fifth least goals allowing just 30 against. Utah has allowed the sixth most goal of 42 which is an average of 3.50 a game. Look to cover the 5.5 goals over for tonight’s game.
Connor Hellebuyck is the expected starter for the Jets in tonight’s contest. He is having a “down” year with a mere .917 save percentage and a 2.33 goals against average. Imagine being so good that a couple of bad goals would give you the stats that would be another guys dream numbers.
Connor Ingram makes the start for the Hockey Club with a 5-2-3 record to start the season with a 3.57 goals against average and an .881 save percentage. He has only played one game against the Jets he lost in over time giving up 4 goals in that game having an .875 goals against average.
Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm CT from downtown Winnipeg you can catch the game on TSN, 680 CJOB and Power 97.
